I’m a 40 year-old mother with three kids who cry all day and ask for their father, who has been separated from our family for months.
My husband was deported to Mexico by ICE in March 2012 after being arrested for a driving offense.
My husband is a very tender, sweet and warm-hearted guy, who cares a lot about our family. We used to have the most wonderful life: we shared, we laughed, and we never missed a meal as a family when we were together.
What am I supposed to do? I am not able to work because I have diabetes, chronic arthritis and 5 dislocated disks in my back. One of my children dropped out of school and all my children seem constantly depressed because of their father’s deportation.
It’s all been a string of nightmares for me, and for my children. There are no smiles in our home since their father was deported.
I can’t bear seeing my kids with tears, asking for their father. So I am willing to stand up and tell my story for everyone like me – I do not want to see any more people being pushed into this kind of tragedy. All humans are equal – we are all people under God’s eyes!
